ACC staff involved in huge privacy breach down to posting actual photos.

They posted info on snapchat, including name, contact details and injury suffered by an athlete who represented New Zealand. Another detailed the injuries of a sensitive claimant who ended up in hospital after they attempted suicide. ACC continues to say this is a one-off, (hardly) that it's rare, (yeah right) and that they are doing everything they can to prevent such events. (Really?) IMO the only reason they are doing anything about this is because it's hit the news, and some of their OWN staff are saying that a) it's common, b) no action is ever taken and c) that not ONLY do ACC managers know about it, but that a MANAGER was one of those involved in this snapchat group. How would you like to have photos of your injury and mocking comments posted on snapchat? Not just that, but your name, phone number and address too so you could be identified and be further bullied by others who also accessed that? Are you disgusted that this has gone on for years without anything being done? Do you think this amounts to criminal actions and should those involved be charged?

the ACC now says they have those involved suspended and suggest they'll loose their jobs. IF that is so, I approve. (I just don;t necessarily believe them) Reply

One word disgusting and this does not surprise me as there are so many corrupt government departments. Mind you what can you expect with a corrupt government in power. Reply

this sort of stuff is happening all the time, and people get bent out of shape with it is also common. For me it would be important to me to know what info was sheared, if its just your phone number or address, don't care, if it was say medical records, I would care more. Reply

Hmm not good on any level, makes a mockery of the privacy act in NZ, heads should roll somewhere, maybe they should start at the top and work their way down, the guillotine would have it's work cut out for it, me thinks Reply
