Is Winnie on his way back?
Closed

The A.G.M of NZ First has taken place.

It's leader, Winston Peter, used his first speech, since losing power in the last election, to attack the government with a list of culture war issues.

But Labour was not alone: Also on Peters’ hit list was the media, the Greens, National, the Māori Party, cyclists, “cancel culture,” and the increased usage of te reo in public life – particularly the phrase "Aotearoa”.

Is Winnie on the come back?

Will NZ First be hitting the 5% threshold next election?

Any thoughts?

He is trying to be present way BEFORE the election, because that was a criticism last times. He only turned up in the last 2 months before the elections. So good on him for actually fronting up and doing that this time. BUT is he strong enough to actually make a change for NZ, that is hard to tell.

He's a lawyer ... he's never given that up - but, like you say, an MP for over 40 years.

and I see he took the recent opportunity to make a speech attacking pretty much everyone in sight. That'll stir the pot.

Yes go Winnie. He had a good point no one asked me if I wanted to change New Zealands name to Aotearoa and I like the way he says things others are to scared to say. Go Winnie.

Not sure, but he is ticking all my boxes at the moment, which none of the other partys are doing.

they may well. One thing you can say about old Winnie, he isn't a quitter.
