Have you been, or do you want to go to - Hong Kong?

Today, was clean the china cabinet out day.

It was a pleasant task. Loads of travel memories to enjoy, as l dusted off each little souvenir.

The ones from Hong Kong were tinged with sadness, though, because l can only imagine the happy memories, of the time Hong Kong was a free exciting, friendly and vibrant city, that l remember, would be totally different to the city it is today.

Have you been to Hong Kong?

Was it a few years back, or in current, troubled times?

What did you like about Hong Kong?

What didn't you like about the city?

Where did you dine? Was it in a hotel, on a cruise liner, in a local restaurant, from a street food stall, or on a floating restaurant in the harbour?

Did you go sight-seeing?

Did you buy a souvenir?

What other countries have you visited?

Feel free to share some experiences.

Went to Hong Kong in 1986 on the way back from Japan. Didn't like the dirty parts of the city, but the view from up the top of the cable car was nice at night. It was just so much of a shock after the clean & organized way that Japan was at the time. After one day walking about the place in Hong Kong, I took a shower & couldn't belive the amount of dark coloured water that came off me. I can only assume it was from the traffic & general air quality outside. After 5 days there we travelled to Singapore, which was much closer to Japan in look & feel. Quite liked Singapore, apart from the heat every day when not in our hotel. I am glad I visited Hong Kong before it was handed back to China. But I guess my view of it comes from doing a budget trip there. I can see how a more upmarket trip could give a totally different impression of the place. Reply
