Alert Level Changes
Closed

It has just been announced that the Covid-19 alert level will change again for a short time. Level 3 for Auckland, level 2 for the rest of New Zealand. From noon tomorrow (12 August) until midnight Friday (14 August). Stay safe everyone.
I'm not really surprised , I have been more or less expecting community transmission eventually, but would have preferred it no to happen.
I don't live in Auckland so I am not worried yet.
What about everyone else?

I see it won't be so 'short' now. But that's sense. However our supermarket's very prompt actions left a problem. Shopping with a friend on the Wednesday and she wanted 8 2L containers of milk - orphan lambs. Nope. Only 2 per person. Fortunately she fixed that by going back twice, and I got another lot too. Hmmm, makes me wonder how many other shoppers do that? And if so, just how effective ARE restrictions?

I'm in a small provincial town thank goodness! I do all my shopping online nowadays and already have an order coming today which I organised yesterday. No doubt panic buying will hit online sales too, and it'll be difficult to get "spots" again, for a while anyway. Looking at the pictures on Stuff this morning of the supermarket chaos in Auckland, obviously the message did not get through last time that panic buying is simply not necessary!

I live in a small rural area, and have just had an email to say our supermarket has dropped right back to being very careful again IMMEDIATELY. Since I'll be shopping this morning, I'm happy everyone is being sensible.

I live in AK and I was scared that there may be a community transmission in near future. It is scary! I hope everybody pays heed and stays healthy and safe.
